KEB Announces Theatre Load Brakes

Jonathan Bullick | February 7th, 2017

KEB America announces the launch of their popular and redesigned Theatre Load Brake product line which is designed for theatre and entertainment applications.

The high capacity load brakes provide power-off spring-set braking and are electrically released. The load brake product is offered up to 1,500Nm (1,100 ft.lbs.). Assembly for the brakes will happen at KEB’s ISO9001:2015 certified 150,000 sq. ft. Minneapolis facility.

Standard features on the Load Brake product include manual release bolts and an integral mounting flange. Customers can choose the appropriate flange for their installation – generic flange for bulkhead mounting, patterns for KEB and SEW integral gearmotors, or shaft mount with supplied torque arm and bearings. For applications using KEB gearmotors, a pre-assembled KEB brake and gearmotor can also be supplied.

“The brakes are designed specifically for demanding theatre and entertainment applications”, says KEB Sales Manager, Jonathan Bullick. “The brake design leverages KEB’s 45-plus years of experience supplying spring-set brakes for stage applications. All brakes use a noise-dampening design for quiet operation and can be used during production. Options like microswitches for engagement feedback or manual hand releases can be easily added – even in the field.”

A wide variety of coil voltages are offered for worldwide installations. Hubs are offered in both metric and imperial versions. Additionally, various rectifier solutions are offered including overexcitation switches for responsive brake performance.
