KEB T6 Auxiliary Inverter now available for NA market

Jonathan Bullick | November 5th, 2018

SHAKOPEE, MN – KEB America announces the release of the new T6 Auxiliary Inverter for the North American market. Pre-series production of the drive ran in October, and the first series release is now scheduled. KEB is excited to bring this new technology to the field of commercial electric and hybrid electric vehicles.

T6 Auxiliary Inverter Variable frequency drive

The new T6 drive from KEB is a multi-inverter system specially designed for the auxiliary motors in commercial electric vehicles such as compressors, pumps, and ePTO. The drive is capable of powering up to six electric motors with three different power ratings. It combines an embedded controller, inverter drive controls, and EMC filtering into one space-saving unit. The drive itself has IP67 and IP6K9K ratings on the housing and connectors so it can be installed in harsh operating environments.

The T6 inverter provides high performance speed and torque control for the auxiliary functions of an electric vehicle, but it’s more than just an inverter. All of the drive’s components are automotive qualified in accordance with automotive temperature and vibration standards. Each inverter axis supports a variety of motor type options: induction, synchronous PM, switched reluctance, or linear. KEB’s unique motor control algorithms allow for “sensorless” (no encoder) closed-loop speed, torque, and positioning performance providing power on demand and efficient motor operation.

In the T6 inverter you’ll find many embedded and integrated features in the drive, beyond what you would normally think of as part of a frequency inverter. Common-mode DC EMI filters are integrated internally as standard to ensure high operational reliability in electronics systems environments. An embedded main control unit (MCU) supports a CODESYS programming environment for intelligent system control. With 2 CAN ports available, the MCU also supports a CAN communication gateway with J1939 protocol for easy system integration.
