ENGINEERING: Electrical Compliance Engineer
Job Description
KEB America, Inc. has an open opportunity to join our engineering department as an electrical compliance engineer. The role will contribute toward the advancement of the company, by working within the engineering team to ensure the product complies with known and applicable standards. The employee will carry out various tasks related to product certification and compliance, which will require previous electrical engineering experience, compliance work experience, and practical knowhow.
The engineer will be responsible for defining / confirming the applicable standards for a given product. The engineer will further define the type test plans and data collection requirements, supervise testing, and generate the resulting reports. The engineer will serve as the primary contact to various third-party regulatory agencies, interfacing with them during projects and follow up work. The engineer will utilize his or her extensive technical knowledge base to independently make decisions or justifications during work. The engineer will at times need to collaborate with the company’s German compliance engineering team resulting in potential travel to KEB Germany to conduct the necessary work.
Finally, the engineer will act as the expert on electrical engineering and compliance related issues offering advice, clarification and support to the other engineering team members, operations team members and potentially customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Evaluates the compliance requirements and relates necessary information to the design engineering team for direction and clarification
- Assists upper-level management and staff as a compliance specialist or advisor
- Creates, reviews, and manages compliance projects within the company project management system
- Leads project meetings, clearly communicates with other team members, and gives direction where needed
- Defines test plans, procedures, and forms, as well as manages data collection methods
- Compiles and reviews test results, comparing them to stated requirements to determine and certify whether a product is in compliance
- Represents the organization in communications and conferences involving third party regulatory agencies
- Interfaces with customers by addressing compliance related inquiries
- Creates and / or reviews and approves scopes, budgets, and schedules for certification projects
- Prepares compliance project proposals for management review
Education / Experience
- Four year professional degree specifically a B.S.E.E and 4+ years working in compliance related fields in a full time position
- (Alternate) Two year professional master’s degree specifically a M.S.M.E or M.S.E.E. and 1+ years working in compliance related fields as a full time position
